Fan of the Woods is the brainchild of Ben DiMatteo, a freelance journalist, teacher and traveler currently living in Western New York State.

Ben has written for and edited newspapers in New York City, covered international financial law for magazines, worked in fundraising for biomedical research, and for many years taught his unique terrarium-making skills in Brooklyn and the Greater NYC area.
He now offers historic tours and classes in his hometown of Brockport NY, on the banks of the Erie Canal.
